Harvard professor David Edwards, designer François Azambourg and biologist Don Ingber have together designed the WikiPearl, a bite-sized morsel of food wrapped in packaging that protects the food, is edible and biodegradable. Made of a "protective electrostatic gel formed by harnessing interactions between natural food particles, nutritive ions and a polysaccharide," this skin is water- and oxygen-impenetrable. What happens when we meditate and enter into a contemplative state?
We delve into the realm beyond ego and self and connect to what I call Source. You can use whatever language you’d like to identify that which empowers the universe and is embodied in each cell in our body. When we connect to Source, we not only feel imbued with a sense of peace, we develop the capacity to see or intuit a world beyond our individual self, a world in which we realize we are all interconnected. Research finds applying an electrical current to the brain can stimulate lucid dreaming
The findings come from a new study that found that lucid dreaming (where you control your dreams) could be induced with a simple electrical current passed across the frontal lobe. The researchers found that when the electrical current was a very specific frequency — between 25 and 40Hz — a full 70% of participants experienced lucid dreams. No current or the wrong frequency resulted in 0 lucid dreams. Picture credit: Artists Christian Schloe … [Read more...]
Thought your home town was too cloudy for solar panels? Think again!
Solar users in Northwest America are proving that solar panels are a good investment. They have found that summer’s long days and lower energy needs enable them to produce more power than they need. In addition, high heat makes photovoltaic solar panels less efficient, so cool days help solar cells produce more energy. And while overcast skies are not as productive as direct sun they make orientation and pitch of solar panels far less important! … [Read more...]

Farewell to a brave and inspirational woman – Maya Angelou has passed away at 86
Angelou's life is a shining example of triumph over adversity. When she was 7, her mother’s boyfriend raped her. He was later beaten to death by a mob after she testified against him. “My 7-and-a-half-year-old logic deduced that my voice had killed him, so I stopped speaking for almost 6 years,” she said. From the silence a louder voice was born, and she went on to become an award winning writer and civil rights activist. Picture … [Read more...]
