According to Tree Hugger there’s a new movement in town. It is called Redecetarian and it aims to encourage reduced consumption of meat, fish and dairy with a view to both reducing agricultural greenhouse gas emissions and improving public health outcomes. Co-founder Brian Kateman says that it is about empowering everyone to make healthier and more eco-friendly food choices - so are you in or out? … [Read more...]
Concentrations of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere have crossed a new threshold says UN
“This reinforces evidence that the burning of fossil fuels and other human activities are responsible for the continuing increase in heat-trapping greenhouse gases,” Said the WMO, continuing “The constantly rising levels of greenhouse gases ... are driving climate change. If we are to preserve our planet for future generations, we need urgent action to curb new emissions of these heat-trapping gases.” Picture credit: http:www.neontommy.com/ … [Read more...]
CO2 Pollution Levels at Annual Record High!
World carbon dioxide pollution levels in the atmosphere are accelerating and reached a record high in 2012, the U.N. weather agency said last Wednesday. The heat-trapping gas, pumped into the air by cars and smokestacks, was measured at 393.1 parts per million last year, up 2.2 ppm from the previous year, said the Geneva-based World Meteorological Organization in its annual greenhouse gas inventory. That is far beyond the 350 ppm that some … [Read more...]
US and China Agree To Deal To Cut HFC Greenhouse Gases
The US and China have announced plans to cooperate on phasing out a set of potent greenhouse gases known as hydrofluorocarbons. The agreement was made during a US-China summit held in California this weekend. It is understood that climate change was high on the agenda following the establishment of a working group earlier this year to explore areas for cooperation on climate and energy. “The United States and China agreed to work together and … [Read more...]
