Visioneering in the Age of Trump

Visioneering: the ability to have long term vision, and think far and wide; to dream of things that never were and say ‘Why not?’ ”; to think big and to be bold and daring with your thoughts; and to understand that Yes is the Answer.

The Age of Trump: to wallow in and act out of negativity, anger, fear, tribalism and shortsightedness.

[Full disclosure: this article will be talking about my upcoming free webinar, The Secret Behind Your Comfort Zones: Why Fear Holds You Back From Embracing Your Greatness, that takes place Tuesday, May 30 at 8pm.]

Visioneering and the Age of Trump seem polar opposites, and indeed they are. One – Visioneering – represents the future we are heading towards, that of an evolved open culture, one that focuses on the collaborative spirit. The other represents the dying paradigm of a closed culture, one that focuses on the competitive spirit to such a pathological degree that it is fueled by the survival instincts of our primal brains.

I wrote about these differing paradigms in an article I posted in the fall of 2016, right before the presidential election. The article was called Closed to Open: The Clash of Cultures, the Shifting of Paradigms.

In that article, I said that we are shifting from a closed culture to an open culture and open future, and that with this shift, we are in the thick of a revolution and evolution.

Even before Donald Trump was elected president, the current era in the U.S. and world was a transitory one, rife with much instability. A time like this hasn’t been seen since the beginning of the industrial revolution, and our present-day world is going through a similar shift as that transition, and it is leading to a lot of upheaval.

The Age of Trump: fear, negativity and anger are the predominant energies

The ability to Visioneer is an innate one, and when the predominant energy in the zeitgeist is that of an open culture, there is then the potential for an increase in the amount of Visioneering that takes place amongst the populace.

And when the energy in the zeitgeist takes a turn towards the dark side and the closed culture begins to dominate, as it is doing in the age of Trump, then the innate drive towards Visioneering slows down, and even can grind to a halt.

Visioneering in the age of Trump does not have to slow down, and on the contrary, it can speed up. It takes a certain degree of awareness to not have it slow down though. In the age of Trump, when the predominant energy is fear, negativity, anger, tribalism, and shortsightedness, it can trigger the part of your brain that is fear-based and mobilize it to take a front seat to the action. This can then lead you to make fear-based life decisions and act on fear-based behavior patterns.

As I pointed out in my recent article, Healing the Divide in Ourselves, fear drives you to go against your own best interests and stay locked in a corner, afraid to venture beyond the familiar. It causes you to stay with your tribe, and stay with the tried and true, even when the tried and true leaves you miserable, unfulfilled, unsatisfied, unhealthy, angry, resentful, frustrated, and countless other negative emotions and negative life situations.

In the age of Trump, a fear-based mentality becomes lodged in the zeitgeist, causing it to be the predominant energy all around. As this takes place, it causes you to shut down and forget what you are capable of, and lose sight of your Visioneering abilities. Instead you become bathed in the negative climate that is predominant.

As the fear takes over, it can push you to go back in your shell, stay in your comfort zone, and just wallow in negativity. Comfort Zones are a trap, because they give you the sense that you are living a happy life, when in actuality it is a “fake happy life,” one that convinces you to think you are happy, whereas the reality is that you are quite miserable.

Visioneering takes place when you go beyond your comfort zones

Now more than ever, we need Visioneers – people like you. You can’t wallow in the fear, negativity and shortsightedness that are hallmarks of a closed culture, and also hallmarks of the age of Trump. Your Visioneering potential is still there, still ready to be revved up and primed to create a revolution – in your own life and in the world.

So don’t give in to the age of Trump. Keep your eye on the bigger picture, that of what an evolved open culture can give us: the Visioneer.

And this is why I am offering my free webinar, The Secret Behind Your Comfort Zones: Why Fear Holds You Back From Embracing Your Greatness, next Tuesday, May 30 at 8pm Eastern Time: because it is time to activate your Visioneering abilities, especially in the age of Trump.

Let’s do it! Sign up here: The Secret Behind Your Comfort Zones.
