Imagine: John Lennon

35 years ago, and many tears ago, on Dec. 8 1980, John Lennon died.

Imagine was his song, but it is also a song for all of us. It is a song of peace, of love, of a world without war, of a world where people live as one, in tolerance of one another and sharing the common dream of a brotherhood of man.

John was a visionary, a dreamer, a man who believed in peace, and gave his life to that hope.

We all are visionaries and dreamers, and we all can work towards peace – it’s easy if you try.

As John said, “A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is a reality.”

The words from Imagine ring so very true today:

Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today…

Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace…

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world…

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one
